Benefits of herbs and spices (besides awesome flavor)

Herbs and spices not only add tremendous flavor to pretty much anything, but they all have some health benefits as well. So, next time you aren't feeling up to par, reach into your pantry for an all natural remedy!

1. Cardamom
Eases belching, flatulence, and indigestion, helps coughing, asthma, and voice loss, and helps your skin eliminate toxins. Try mixing some in rice before you boil it.

2. Cayenne
Eliminates gas from stomach and intestines, helps sore throats, cold, and flu symptoms, and increases metabolism. Sprinkle some on popcorn for a nice kick.

3. Cinnamon
Helps nausea and stomach ulcers, functions as a mild anti inflammatory, and increases insulin sensitivity. Try adding some to oatmeal or sliced apples.

4. Nutmeg
Improves digestion, eases symptoms of menstruation, and induces sleep and feelings of calm. Grate a small bit into plain or vanilla yogurt.

5. Coriander
Acts as a diuretic and helps aid seasonal allergies. Try adding it into quinoa or rice for some great flavor. Works great with Mexican, Indian, and Asian cuisine.

6. Oregano
Helps treat respiratory illnesses and calms indigestion. Add to pizza or pasta sauce.

7. Turmeric
Reduces inflammation and detoxifies the liver. Try adding to oil and vinegar dressings or to rice.
